Calf strain massage therapy TorontoCalf Strain
A pulled or overstretched calf muscle. Whether you're a runner or a weightlifter, rehab looks very similar.
Not a diagnosis — for more information, contact me or another trusted healthcare provider.
We offload the calf until you can walk and point and pull your toes without significant discomfort, then build full range of motion with weighted isometric or eccentric calf raises. Once that's comfortable, heavier weights through full range build lasting stability. In the short term, massage helps relax the calf and flush fresh fluid through. Once the initial swelling has calmed — usually after 2–3 days — warm baths or contrast therapy (hot, then cold, repeated) encourage blood flow, and compression bandages or compression socks can ease discomfort through the first couple of weeks. Massage therapy is a great tool for this — come in for advice, direction and relief.
