Morton's neuroma massage therapy TorontoMorton's Neuroma
Irritation of a nerve between the toes, often when the transverse arch across the ball of the foot has dropped.
Not a diagnosis — for more information, contact me or another trusted healthcare provider.
Burning, shooting pain or numbness between the toes — most often between the third and fourth toes, sometimes the second and third.
I build range of motion through the joints of the front of the foot, then work on rebuilding muscular strength through the arch — that's essential to the plan. Early on, that might mean reducing walking or sport for a while, and possibly a metatarsal pad to support the transverse arch short-term and relieve symptoms enough that you can get back to daily activities. At home, toe-gripping exercises — picking up and putting down laundry with your toes — strengthen the arch and take pressure off the compressed nerve. Adherence to home care is one of the biggest factors in how this goes.
What I Focus On
- Forefoot Mobility
- Arch Strength
- Metatarsal Support
- Home Care
Typical course: 1–8 weeks. Using supportive devices like a metatarsal pad, we can often get the pain managed early on, so recovery isn't quite so uncomfortable while the rest of the plan takes effect.
