Hip bursitis massage therapy TorontoOuter Hip Pain
A bit of a sandwich of muscle tightness, trigger points, possibly gluteal tendon irritation, and the aches that come with it. You may have been searching for it as “hip bursitis” — the clinical name is greater trochanteric pain syndrome.
Not a diagnosis — for more information, contact me or another trusted healthcare provider.
Tenderness on the outside of the hip, discomfort lying on that side or climbing stairs. Very common in people 40 and up.
Deep tissue massage, gentle strengthening, and home care with lacrosse ball release and stretching — the specifics are genuinely case by case, so this is one where the plan gets built with you at the visit rather than handed to you in advance. Early on, it's worth avoiding stretches that pull the leg across the body, crossing your legs, and sleeping on the painful side — these compress the irritated tendon and can flare it up. If you've got hip pain, come to me, I'll help.
What I Focus On
