Foot surgery rehab massage therapy TorontoPost-Surgical Foot Rehab
Rehab after foot surgery. The right approach depends on the specific procedure.
Not a diagnosis — for more information, contact me or another trusted healthcare provider.
Early on, swelling and surgical tightness make even small movements feel like a lot — that's expected, not a sign anything's wrong.
Early on, the focus is maintaining mobility without disturbing the surgical wound. Once a robust scar has formed, I move to mobilizing scar tissue and restoring functional movement of the foot. My surgical-rehab background is a real differentiator here.
Typical course: Case-specific — it depends entirely on the procedure and on you, so I'd rather talk through it directly than put a number here that might not fit your case.
Before we start hands-on treatment
After any surgery, I need your surgeon's okay before we start hands-on treatment. If you have questions about your specific case in the meantime, email me at oliverbeermt@gmail.com — I'm happy to answer them. We'll begin once you've been cleared.
Get emergency care if…
Calf pain, swelling or warmth, or sudden shortness of breath after surgery or an injury can mean a blood clot. Get emergency care right away.
Rehab is emotional as well as physical. The biggest thing I see get in the way of recovery isn't the exercises — it's people closing themselves off and retreating from friends, family and community while they heal. We're deeply social creatures, and isolation hurts both mental and physical health. Lean on the people around you, practically and socially, while you're getting through this.
The way we feel does so much for the way we heal. We heal better when we're around friends and family.
