Broken ankle rehab massage therapy TorontoPost-Fracture & Surgical Lower Leg Rehab
Rehab after a fracture or surgery to the lower leg or ankle.
Not a diagnosis — for more information, contact me or another trusted healthcare provider.
Significant muscle tightness and discomfort driven by fluid buildup, inflammation and a pain–tension cycle is normal — discomfort leads to tightness, which leads to more discomfort.
Massage helps manage that discomfort through rehab. With a surgical-rehab background, I'm confident with exercise prescription — if you have a plan from a physiotherapist, physiatrist or surgeon, I'll help you execute it with education and direction. If you haven't connected with anyone yet, I'm happy to be a starting point, and I'll refer you to colleagues when a case is outside my scope.
Typical course: Case-specific; often 6–12 weeks of rehab after cast or boot removal, longer after surgery.
Before we start hands-on treatment
After any surgery, I need your surgeon's okay before we start hands-on treatment. If you have questions about your specific case in the meantime, email me at oliverbeermt@gmail.com — I'm happy to answer them. We'll begin once you've been cleared.
Get emergency care if…
Calf pain, swelling or warmth, or sudden shortness of breath after surgery or an injury can mean a blood clot. Get emergency care right away.
Rehab is emotional as well as physical. The biggest thing I see get in the way of recovery isn't the exercises — it's people closing themselves off and retreating from friends, family and community while they heal. We're deeply social creatures, and isolation hurts both mental and physical health. Lean on the people around you, practically and socially, while you're getting through this.
The way we feel does so much for the way we heal. We heal better when we're around friends and family.
