TMJ massage therapy TorontoJaw Tightness & TMJ
Tightness and clenching through the jaw muscles, sometimes with a popping or clicking joint — what most people mean when they say “TMJ,” even though that's technically just the name of the joint itself.
Not a diagnosis — for more information, contact me or another trusted healthcare provider.
I am not the expert, but I am capable. For complex TMJ, a specialist is the better choice; for a tight jaw and clenching, I can definitely help. I work conservatively on the jaw muscles externally and generally avoid intraoral work — my fingers don't go in your mouth. I've done intraoral work a handful of times since school with success, but I don't claim it as a specialty. I assess the jaw's tracking pattern and which side it shifts toward when it pops, relax the tight side, and retest — if it's helping, I'll teach you self-massage.
For complex jaw issues, I'll suggest checking in with your dentist, who can refer you to a jaw specialist if needed.
