Scoliosis massage therapy TorontoScoliosis-Related Muscle Pain
Scoliosis-related pain can be structural (from the bony structure itself) or functional (driven by imbalances in muscle, gait, walking patterns and daily activities). I screen for which is which, and if it looks structural, I confirm with your doctor via X-ray. Correction — bracing for growing teens, or surgery — is left to specialists, outside my scope, but I can help manage discomfort and comfort either way.
Not a diagnosis — for more information, contact me or another trusted healthcare provider.
For functional scoliosis, there's a lot I can help with — on the table, deep tissue, myofascial release, and stretching to open things up and get the body moving; off the table, home exercises and lacrosse ball self-release, plus adjustments to job, sleep and sport habits that add strain. If you have X-rays or imaging reports, I'd love to see them before your first treatment. I might be giving my job away, but I think everyone should have the tools to take care of themselves.
What I Focus On
- Functional Assessment
- Deep Tissue & Myofascial Release
- Home Self-Release
Typical course: Broad — from about two weeks to months or longer. Functional cases can genuinely improve; structural cases focus on finding a way to live comfortably.
