Upper cross syndrome massage therapy TorontoUpper Cross Syndrome
Too common in this day and age — hours at a desk, stressful work, and shallow breathing draw the shoulders and head forward, creating tightness and stiffness through the back that contributes to headaches, back strain, neck strain and general discomfort. If we've got lower cross syndrome, we've probably got the upper version too, and I treat both.
Not a diagnosis — for more information, contact me or another trusted healthcare provider.
Deep tissue work and rib mobilizations loosen things up, then rotational exercises and coached thoracic mobility work build lasting change, alongside shoulder strengthening and movement-pattern training for correct back engagement during exercise, so workouts don't worsen headaches. Deep diaphragmatic breathing — breathing that opens rib expansion and settles the nervous system — carries you through the workday.
Upper cross draws from many wells of knowledge — practitioners I've worked beside, been treated by, and treated — and it really lets me flex those skills. I'll be honest: upper cross can't be fixed by massage alone. It needs daily-life changes too.
